YOUTH ACTIVITIES - 1st MONKTON BROWNIE PACK What are Brownies?
Brownies are part of the Girl Guide Association.
Brownies are usually aged between seven and ten, although some Brownies stay in
the unit until they are a little bit older.
Any girl over the age of seven can become a Brownie Guide as long as she is able
to understand, and wants to make, the Brownie Guide Promise.
Brownies belong to a Pack and work in small groups called Sixes. This gives each
girl a group of ready-made friends to take care of her. It also makes her feel
that she belongs to something special. One Brownie is chosen to be the leader of
her six; she is called a sixer and another Brownie is her assistant (called a
seconder).
What do Brownies do?
Brownies have fun! They take part in indoor and outdoor activities that
challenge them to do their best! Their meetings are action-packed and full of
challenges, games and activities, usually ones that the Brownies have suggested
themselves. Everything a Brownie does is an adventure - it's a world of
excitement, new interests and friends. Brownies can also work towards badges -
sometimes as a Pack, a six or individually. There are badges to cover nearly
every interest and activity and Brownies have a handbook which lists all the
badges and what they entail.
The 1st Prestwick Brownie Pack, meets in Monkton Community Church on Thursday
evening during school term time, from 6.00pm to 7.45pm. It is for girls aged 7 -
10 years. The session starts in September, but girls can join at any time during
the year. How do I join?
