WORSHIP - FOCUS GROUP Marion (46) from Shetland, had a breathing
problem which could only be solved by a double lung transplant. A friend - one
of our Church family - put her name on the Prayer Cross, and she was prayed for
weekly. Her condition deteriorated and she was flown to hospital in Newcastle to
have treatment to ease the situation. While there, two lungs became available,
the operation was successful and she is now back home in Shetland, and we
continue to pray for completion. God made sure she was in the right place at the
right time. Not all our prayers are answered so dramatically. Not all our
prayers are for such major situations. Many of our Church family and friends
will testify to the fact that PRAYER CHANGES THINGS ... strength to cope with
difficult problems like family crisis or school exams; being upheld in hospital
through an operation and even while awaiting one, like being given an earlier
date; comfort and peace in the humdrum of daily life, in fact our God longs to
help with all our cares and worries. We in the Focus Group liken ourselves to
the four men who lowered their sick friend through the roof to the feet of Jesus
(Mark 2), and we never cease to be amazed at God's gracious answers to our
prayers for others. We are seeking to obey God's Word for his Church, "is any
one of you in trouble? Then he should pray" (James 5 13-16), and our loving,
faithful, all-knowing Father encourages us. Do make use of the Prayer Cross The Focus Group - meet in the Session House on
Wednesday mornings at 10.00am to 11.00am. If you are interested in joining the Focus, or wish more
information, please telephone Grace Goudie on 01292 311610. |
